Lucas McKinnon for Mission City Council

Mission has been my home since I was six years old. I am excited to be running for council in the 2026 City of Mission Municipal Election. This was not a decision made lightly. It was made with determination, ambition, a love for my home, and a boundless optimism that I carry with me.

Mission has provided me with an incredible upbringing. I am fortunate to know where we came from, and I am ready for where we are going. While a run for council is an opportunity for me to pour my energy, experiences, and perspectives into our community, this approach is not new to me.

I have spent my entire adult life volunteering here. Some meaningful volunteer roles that have helped shape who I am today, connected me with a diverse group of people from across our community, and broadened my perspectives include:

• Current Treasurer and Head Coach with Mission Minor Baseball Association for four years, on top of being a lifetime member of the club as an athlete. #GoTwins

• Scholarship Chair and Vice Chair of the Mission Community Foundation from 2020 to 2025.

• Previously served on the Mission Economic Development Select Advisory Committee.

• Previously served on the Downtown Business Association Board

Most people know me from my business: Cameron James Men’s Wear. I founded my business in 2022 here in Mission, and I can confidently say that entrepreneurship has taught me more about our community, business, and most notably, myself, than anything else ever has.

As many small business owners know, entrepreneurship is an incredibly humbling endeavour. It has taught me patience and resilience, strengthened my ability to solve problems, and provided me with tremendous insight into the barriers to success for businesses in our community.

Today, I see my role in Mission as that of a community builder and a leader with the ability to look ahead We can best honour our rich history by moving forward with integrity, hope, and hard work.

I plan to continue building communities here in Mission for the rest of my life.

This is an important election for Mission. It is time for new perspectives, new energy, and to continue building upon what we believe in. I am eager, willing, and ready to see what the future has in store for my beautiful home.
